Özet
A series of contemporary social movements have taken place in different quarters of the world since the beginning of 2010s. The main motivation behind the majority of these contemporary social movements has been resisting against neo-liberal policies that have triggered social inequalities among different segments of global society. In case of Turkey, the reflection of this unrest was Gezi Park movement, which continued throughout May and July 2013. The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between contemporary social movements and online participatory media. The assumption of this study is that contemporary social movements demand the support of online participatory media environment by nature. The sustainability of online participatory media forms emerged in these movements depends on their civic culture. © 2025 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing. All rights reserved.
