Öğe An exploratory study of dialogic communication on mobile gaming company websites: The Turkish context(Scoala Natl Studii Politice Adm - Snspa, Fac Cominicare Realti Publice, 2025) Meric, Emre; Cakici, Zindan; Goncu, Barika; Dogan, SahikaDialogic communication remains an essential strategy for companies to build ways to interact with the relevant publics in the most effective and ethical approach. The current study aims to explore the dialogic communication potential of mobile gaming companies' websites via quantitative content analysis. The sample includes the websites of international mobile gaming companies that virtually communicate with their visitors in English as the primary language. The sample includes websites of mobile gaming companies producing the most popular games among Turkish gamers. Findings indicate that there is still room for such companies to increase their potential for dialogic communication with mobile gamers via their websites by increasing user interaction and enhancing user experience. Given the absence of research on dialogic communication strategies in mobile gaming company websites, this study provides foundational insights for both scholars and practitioners.Öğe Brand Characteristics, Perceived Quality of Freemium Users, and Premium Service Purchase Intention: The Case With Netflix Users(IGI Global, 2024) Dogan, SahikaThe rising popularity of online video streaming services challenge the dominancy of traditional television channels due to changing television viewing trends, as personalized individual services have also been integrated into online video streaming. This study aims to explore potential relationships between brand related characteristics, perceived quality and purchase intention among freemium online video streaming service users in the context of Netflix. Considering the changes in television viewing trends and the impressive amount of revenue drawn by the Netflix company from the Turkish audience, it is important to reveal which factors encourage free users to purchase paid membership. Findings revealed significant relationships between brand image, components of perceived quality (user friendliness, visual design, operation speed and safety) and purchase intention; while it was found that brand loyalty does not impact on users’ purchasing decisions. © 2025 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing. All rights reserved.Öğe Culture and arts in pandemic times: COVID-19, strategic communication, and the case with SALT initiative(IGI Global, 2025) Dogan, SahikaAs the COVID-19 outbreak took over the world population, artists and institutions who contributed to the production and dissemination of arts and cultures had to give a break to their professional activities. It was March 2020, when Turkish government decided to stop arts and culture related activities, in order to prevent the spreading of the disease. Actors of arts and culture scene quickly adopted themselves to the "stay at home" days, and continued their productions while in self-isolation. As a result of this unexpected incident, many domestic and international arts and culture institutions have opened their archives on digital media platforms. As the epidemic broke out in the beginning of March 2020 in Turkey, SALT quickly reconstructed and updated their online historical archives and art collections by making 1.840.000 documents accessible to individuals via the Internet. The main motivation behind the majority of these contemporary social movements has been resisting against neo-liberal policies that have triggered social inequalities among different segments of global society. In case of Turkey, the reflection of this unrest was Gezi Park movement, which continued throughout May and July 2013. The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between contemporary social movements and online participatory media. The assumption of this study is that contemporary social movements demand the support of online participatory media environment by nature. As a consequence, the closing years of the 20th century witnessed the birth of anti- corporate and anti- government social movements, critical of the neoliberal globalization of corporate capitalism that aimed to direct attention to social and economic imbalance both at national and international levels. The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between contemporary social movements and online participatory media. The assumption of this study is that contemporary social movements demand the support of online participatory media environment by nature. The sustainability of online participatory media forms emerged in these movements depends on their civic culture.
